The Hesperides (Ἑσπεριδες)

Roman Name: Hesperides

Translation: Of the Evening

Evening Light

The Hesperides are the goddess / nymphs who are the personification of the evening light and what the Greeks described as a golden sunset. They are entrusted with guarding the golden apple tree, the same golden apple that Eris used to cause discord between Hera, Aphrodite and Athena. This is also the same tree that Hercules had to steal the precious fruit from in his 12 challenges, that he had to Athena to return. They get most of their golden light from this apple tree that they good for eternity.


Family Ties; The Hesperides' Mother and Father are Nyx and Erebus, with many siblings such as Aether, Hemera, Ker(es), Moros, Hypnos, The Oneiroi, Thanatos, Geras, Oizys, Nemesis, Philotes, Apate, Eris, The Moirai, and Momus.

Tributes; Their most common symbol is the Golden Apple Tree.
