Erebus (Ερεβος)

Translation: Darkness

The Personification of Darkness

Erebus is the third son of Gaia and Chaos, he is darkness that covers every hole, crevice and the sky at night. Often residing in the realm of the underworld with his Brother Tartarus and Grand Nephew Hades, the Ruler of the Underworld. He is described as a horrifying creature, ugly and demonic looking with darkness oozing out of him.

The Love of Erebus and Nyx;

When Erebus' younger sister was born, Nyx, he was immediately in love. They were entwined with each other in devoted, patient, and loving relations.

Together they had many children, but their most well known were Hemera (Light) and Aether (Day) , their beautiful daughters who brought joy to everyone. It is said that when they ran at night it was the most beautiful thing, as Nyx drew her husband across the sky in a delicate whale, the shadows dancing with them.

Said to be the most loyal and loving couple of the Godly Greek Family. Much to country belief, Erebus was quite the romantic, he always wanted to be by her side and cover her in affection and words of affirmation "You are stunning my love!" he would preach as she blushed. Nyx preferred to give small gifts to her husband, anything she could find, and he always kept it with him when they had to part.
