Translation: Divine Law, Custom
Titaness of Rules
Themis was the titan of law, rules, order, customs and tradition, she was the one who wrote the majority of the rules of conduct set by the titan rulers. She is described to have an ominous voice, especially as she's also known as the ancient oracle Delphi. Her voice was the inspiration for the divine voice used in media, as the was the voice who introduced justice, morality, rules, hospitality, governance conduct, assembly, referring as these rules and courtesy to humanity. Her name means all of these things, and was often used as a word to describe the positive side of these things. She is the symbol of justice today, being depicted with a scale, sword and usually a blindfold. She was the first wife of Zeus, who was asked to turn into a water droplet to be eaten, to prevent the recurring prophecy that he got, about Themis' and Zeus' son dethroned Zeus, and the circle continuing.
Themis, Zeus and the water droplet;
"Themis." Zeus said commonly. "I know, that you know about the prophecy. And what the Moirai said" Zeus was suspicious, but didn't actually know, he wanted to pry to see if she did. "Yes. I'm sorry Zeus, I found out a while ago, I over heard you talking about it in your sleep." Themis admitted immediately, better to be honest then to lie and the truth come out later. "You then know that I can't let that happen." Zeus pushed further. "You can't be series, you saw what happened the last two times! You can't just eat your children, and you can't just stop it from happening." Themis was surprised that he was thinking about such a thing instead of trying to live the best of it. "But I can. I've thought about it! If we don't have a son, then there no son to dethrone me!" Zeus said happily and hopeful. "How?!" Themis was exited to hear a plan that must be so complex to defeat the fates themselves. "Well, we can't have a son, if you don't exist..." Zeus trailed off to a holt, seemingly just realizing what he was saying. "You, y-you wan to kill me? B-but I haven't done anything wrong! This isn't fair! How would you do it? I'm a titan you can't kill me even if you wanted too!!" Themis cried in shack, how could he say such a thing?! "I'm not going to kill you Themis, I know I can't. Calm down!" Zeus stated in a rush. "You'll just always be with me. I'll talk to you, and if you want your say in things, you can just tell me and I'll say it for you! We are in this together!" Zeus tried to persuade her. "What do you mean? What are you suggesting?" Themis was confused. "Well, you'll turn into a water droplet, I'll drink you, and we can be together as one with you inside me. How dose that sound?" Zeus continued hopefully. "You sound crazy. A water droplet? I don't want to do that! What about my siblings, my mother, my justice system?! What will they do without me?!" Themis was unconvinced. "I'll look after all of that for you, pass on your words and everything! Just think of all the good it would do, we don't know what kind of person this next king could be! We could work together, be justice and king, we'll work together while preventing anything bad from happening! Think of all the good it would do!" Zeus pushed. "I guess that's true, and if you promise to listen, we could make a fair and just world for humans and other gods alike! I could guide you with morality and hospitality, making you the perfect king. There would be no need for a predecessor, and you could talk to my family for me and everything." Themis rolled the idea offer in her head.
"Okay, fine, let me organize my assets and say my goodbyes. Let's do this!" Themis thought that everything would be fine. This could be a good idea! "YES! I'm happy you agree with me! Go, go, sort things out!" Zeus exclaimed excitedly.
And so she did, sad about losing her individuality, but it was for the better of the world.
About six days later, they finally decided to go along with the plan, although Themis had grown increasingly more anxious about going along though. She was beginning to feel funny, she thought she might be pregnant, they had slept together a few nights back. She didn't want to say anything and risk upsetting Zeus, so she kept quiet. On the seventh day they met up, and Themis went over the plan one last time, before turning into a water droplet over a goblet, and Zeus drank and got in one gulp.
From inside his stomach, Themis called out to Zeus, to test if he really could hear her. "Zeus? Zeus! I'm inside! Can you hear me?!" She called, but got no reply. "Zeus?!" She called again. Still no reply, she had messed up, he couldn't hear her from here, she was alone, and Zeus probably thought she was dead! She would never get out of here. After Themis cried she finally accepted his fate, not from a lack of trying to escape.
Zeus smiled to himself, she couldn't escape him, and thought he couldn't hear her. He had gotten away with his plan all along. He left that same day to find Hera, a new wife to call his own.
