Mnemosyne (Μνημοσυνη)

Translation: Memory

Inventor of Language

Mnemosyne is the Titan of Memory and she was the creator of language, words, Speaking and writing. She is also the goddess of time, and keeper of history and myths. She was also the mother of the Muses, the partition goddesses of poets and tradition.


Family; Mnemosyne's parents are Gaia and Uranus. Her siblings include, The Cyclopes, The Gigantes, The Hecatoncheires, The Erinyes, The Meliae, and the other titans such as, Crius, Kronus, Tethys, Themis, Hyperion, Herus, Oceanus, Creus, Rhea, Iapetus, Phoebe, and Atlas. Daughters include the Muses, Callope, Clio, Euterpe, Erato, Melpomene, Polyhymnia, Terpsichore, Thalia, and Urania, who were fathered by Mnemosyne's nephew Zeus.
