The Erinyes where three goddesses, Alecto (Αληκτω, Unceasing), Megaera (Μεγαιρα, Grudge) and Tisiphone (Τισιφονη, Murder Retribution), who punished men who committed horrid crimes against nature like murder, rape, offending the gods, and cruelty. Due to their role in punishment the Erinyes are known as Vengeance and Retribution. The most heinous crimes that these goddesses punished was one of a parent against their child, as the Erinyes are children of the abusive relationship that was Gaia and Uranus, and they were born of his blood from castration, this is a personal grudge they hold against humanity and a crime they take really seriously. Their punishments are usually in the form of torment, aggravation or sending one's mind to madness, all of which are cruel mind tricks and punishments not physically but mentally and emotionally. Because they are punishers, they are servants of the underworld and its respective King and Queen, Hades and Persephone. With whom they work closely with to bring discipline to all of the crimes the Erinyes believe worthy of their wrath. These women are described as winged ladies whose hair and skin are coated in poison serpents, they are also described to be quite ugly to look at, clothed in black robes and knee length skirts with boots, aligned with the huntress look which follows Athena.
