Hera (Ἡρη)

Translation Juno

Queen of the Heavens and the Gods

Hera was the Queen of the Gods, and the goddess of marriage, women, and the stars of heaven. Often shown to be a beautiful woman with a crown and royal scepter like her husband. Hera is married to Zeus the king of the Gods, however this marriage was incredibly unhappy and toxic. Being the Goddess of marriage, Hera never cheated on Zeus, but Zeus had hundreds of affairs with all sorts of people, Women, Men, Gods, Nymphs, Animals. Most of which were unwilling, yet because Hera couldn’t take her anger out of Zeus, he instead plotted revenge on the partners of these affairs, punishing them instead. This gave Hera her very popular persona of no longer being just the kind and loving goddess of families, but a jealous and vengeful wife of Zeus.

Rebellion of Hera;

In Heras unhappy marriage, she hated the way that Zeus was cruel and had so many affairs. It was an embarrassment, the goddess of marriage had the least happy marriage of them all. Not forgetting her rape and being tricked into marrying him in the first place. She plotted against him with Poseidon, Athena, and a few other gods. “I have a plan! Why should this cruel, lazy buffoon be king? We all helped in the war!” Hera exclaimed to her small audience. After little convincing they agreed to help her. They drugged Zeus and tied him to his bed, although their plans were not as thorough as they wanted it to be and they argued about what to do with him. Over hearing this scheme Briareus, a recently released titan who had taken a liking to Zeus, freed him and told him of his wife's plans. Obviously Zeus was outraged, and punished his wife for her treason by chaining her to the sky in a short imprisonment punishment. Hera cried all night in her timeout, Zeus approached her the next day, and made her promise to never plot against him again in exchange for her release, she agreed and was let down. Returning to her post as Queen she never plotted against her husband again, not that she didn’t want to.
