Translation: Gift
Fishing Goddess
Doris was the Goddess of rich fishing grounds, which often were at the mouths of rivers, or where fresh water mixed with salt water. She was the wife of Nereus the sea god, and was the mother of the Fifty Nereides. Her name means gift and bounty as the Greeks relied heavily on fishing as a main source of food, thus to have Doris nearby was a gift.
Family; Doris' parents were the Titans Oceanus and Tethys. She married Nereus, and was the mother of the Fifty Nereides.
Tributes; Doris has many symbols such as seawater, plants, animals, fish, and being the daughter of Oceanus, she is often associated with the riches of the Sea.
