Roman Name: Mars
God of Bloodlust War
Aries is the God of bloodlust, courage, and war. He is the Son of Zeus and Hera and the not so secret lover of Aphrodite. He is depicted as a fit 30ish year old man, usually in the nude or in battle armor with a helm and spear, always around the most chaotic and rage fueled wars. With all his brutalness, and brash outlook on the world he was a protective and somewhat good dad and lover, he was also known to be the defender of the weak. He kept his daughter and her husband safe of the isle of the blessed, and he protected and avenged his daughter when he found out she was raped. He was also the only one to see Aphrodite for who she was, not just her beauty, as she was the only one to truly see him, although they both slept around.
The love of Aphrodite and Ares;
When Ares first saw Aphrodite, he was immediately in love, even though he knew she was married to his brother Hephaestus. But this was different to him, unlike other women, who he wouldn’t usually bother to court, but instead just sleep with and move on. There was something in Aphrodite that made him want to win her over, for her to love him too. Thus, he started meeting up with Aphrodite, taking her on extraordinary dates, bringing gifts of all kinds, bringing her to watch over one of his battles, even letting her braid his hair and dress him up. He made sure not to move too fast, and not to make any unwanted moves on her until she reciprocated. However it didn't take long for Aphrodite to love him back, she could see through the brash man he showed others. Over time, as Ares got to know Aphrodite, he could see the vengeful and brutal side of her, she wasn't this petite little girl everyone made her out to be, she was no damsel in distress. He fell madly in love with the strong and independent women before him, he loved to train in swordsmanship with her, as she picked it up quite quickly. Ares also felt safe with Aphrodite, safe enough to let down the violent walls he had built, to let her see the beauty in him. Aphrodite saw the beauty in his violence and the beauty in his soul and his true will to protect and care for others. They both slept with many others, but romantically, they were the only ones for each other.
Family; Ares' parents are Hera and Zeus, he has many siblings on behalf of Zeus, however his full siblings with Hera and Zeus are Hebe, Eileithyia, Hephaestus, and Enyo. Ares' lover was Aphrodite, but he never married. Some of his children include Deimos, Phobos, Harmonia, Enyalios, Darkon Ismenios, Sosipolis, and Alkippe.
Tributes; Ares symbol is his helm but his sacred animal was the serpent. He was often sacrificed too after the war with either an Ox or a Rooster.
